A room-by-room plan for the weeks before Thanksgiving, and how to decide what to do yourself and what to hand off.

Once the Hampton Roads humidity finally breaks, the invitations start: Thanksgiving at your place, family in from out of town, friends dropping by for the holidays. It's a great time of year, and also the time when you suddenly notice every smudge on the windows and every dust bunny along the baseboards.
The good news is that you don't need to clean the whole house at once. Spread the work over a few weeks and focus on the spots guests actually see, and the day itself stays calm. Here's the plan we'd follow.
Fall in Hampton Roads means open windows on mild days, leaves and mud tracked in from the yard, and a summer's worth of dust that settled while the AC ran. This is the stretch to tackle the slower jobs, before the last-minute rush:
Now narrow the focus to the places visitors will actually use:
Even with a good plan, a lot of this adds up. If you'd rather spend those hours cooking and hosting, here's how our services line up with holiday prep:
Deep Cleaning is the most complete option for a pre-holiday reset. It includes everything in our recurring cleaning, plus baseboards, doors and trim wet wiped, interior windows and sills cleaned, and light fixtures and ceiling fans hand wiped, so the detail work from the “Fall Reset” list above is already covered.
Recurring Cleaning (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly) keeps surfaces, bathrooms, and floors maintained, so the week before guests arrive you're only polishing and not starting from scratch.
Essential Cleaning is our lighter option for the basics, and a good fit if your home is already in decent shape and you just want a quick refresh.
If you choose Essential or Recurring Cleaning but want extra attention in certain spots, we offer add-on services you can request when booking. For holiday prep, popular choices include:
You can see the full list on our Services page. Add-ons are confirmed as part of your estimate, so mention what you're hoping to have done when you reach out.
The days right before Thanksgiving are popular for cleaning. Reaching out a few weeks ahead gives you the best choice of dates, and lets us make sure the scope fits what you need. If you want a refresher on how often a home really needs the full treatment, see our guide on how often to deep clean in Hampton Roads.
When should I start cleaning for Thanksgiving?
About three to four weeks ahead for the slower jobs like windows, baseboards, and fixtures, then focus on guest-facing rooms the week of. Floors and last-minute wipe-downs come the day before.
Is a deep clean worth it before the holidays?
If it's been a few months since your last one, it's a good time. Our Deep Cleaning covers baseboards, interior windows, and light fixtures and ceiling fans, which are the details guests tend to notice.
Can I add oven or fridge cleaning to my regular cleaning?
Yes. Oven cleaning and refrigerator and freezer deep clean are available as add-ons with any of our cleaning services. Let us know when you request your estimate.
Do you serve my area?
We clean homes across Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and the rest of Hampton Roads.
